At tonight's episode of SmackDown Live, R-Truth defeated Shinsuke Nakamura on to win the United States Championship.
Rusev came out after Truth won the title and challenged him to a match for the title. R-Truth accepted and also retained the championship.
Rusev then turned heel and joined forces with Nakamura to attack R-Truth. Later, a backstage segment set up a match where Rusev & Nakamura will face Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson.
Previously, Nakamura had won the United States title from Rusev on the Royal Rumble 2019 pre-show.
R-Truth had been announced as the 30th entrant in the Men's Royal Rumble match, but Nia Jax attacked him as he was making his entrance and took his spot in the rumble.
