According to PWInsider's Mike Johnson, Shane McMahon is expected to return to WWE tv soon. The reason why he appeared at SmackDown 1000 along with his family is because of it. Below is what he wrote:
"For those who have asked about Shane McMahon since he appeared on this week's WWE Smackdown 1000 episode, that cameo was meant to be his return to TV.
We are told McMahon will be worked into company storylines and will be appearing on Smackdown in the weeks to come."
